confession (kinda)

We've had landscapers here this week, and let me tell ya, they've provided all sorts of entertainment. One such (male) landscaper was actually dubbed 'the supermodel' by Bradley.

Anyway, yesterday I may or may not have joined the girls out on the front porch to take in a little of the action...

I'll never tell.

psalm 127:3

"Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him."

It was a good day. A day where I once again gave thanks for these two little souls.  They bring such joy. Despite the heaviness I might encounter. Despite the sadness I might feel. They continue to bless me. Every. Single. Day.

(a portion of) tonight's dinner...

brought to you by the very lovely & very talented Miss Corinna Werdal. In our world she started it all.

Chip. Cucumber. Cheese. In that order. Try it. Trust me.

P.S. F.O.X.Y. Thanks for your sweet email this morning. Love ya for it. (xo)

"where oh where has my little girl gone?"

The other day Vida Blue used the word 'yesterday' correctly in a sentence. Last night she told me my dinner was 'lovely'. I asked her what she was doing this morning and she replied 'just checking your blog'.

Unbelievable.

She also can't seem to get enough of this man. (Love you Poppy.)

It's Monday & threatening rain. Forgive me. My iphone promised sunny skies with highs of 24.
*sigh*

here's to...

* a sweet Friday night,
* dining al fresco,
* & a first for the babes.

(Better late than never I say.)

note to self:

"...do small things with great love." - Mother Teresa

fyi

My crushin' days have come to an end. It seems I've become a 'pinner' of sorts. It's a little frivolous, mixed in with a whole lotta fun. In the crazy blessed monotony of my sweet life I'll admit to needing a little of both at times. Even if it's at midnight. I'll take it. With arms wide open in fact.

Happy Friday to you all. With love. Always love.

truth.

Friends lend friends coffee. Sometimes in really cute mugs.

6.14.2011

little sugar. little spice.

Vida Blue has taken to calling Ever "honey babes". As in...

"Oooh honey babes, cooomere. You sad honey babes?".

I'm tempted to let her interrupt and tattle-tale all she wants if she keeps it up.

6.11.2011

oh shiz!

Here's hopin' this ain't the start of a new series.

"what does grandpa say?"

The other day my aunt was asking Vida Blue what different animals say. You know, the usual 'what does a cat say?' 'what does a cow say?'... and then this aunt asked, "what does Grandpa say?". And without a moments hesitation Vida Blue shouted "I love you!".
Thanks for lovin' my girls the way you do dad. They notice.

6.06.2011

ummm... thanks babe!?!

Sometimes when the mister returns from his annual golf trips the most random and unexpected things happen.

Like for instance, this past weekend it rained
TOMS on us girls.

Believe me, you didn't hear us complainin'.

Spoiled silly. And we know it.

P.S. B.A.B.E. Because I think you may be waitin' to hear it... ;) golf all you want this summer. We'll be waitin' at home for you in our cool new kicks. (xo!)

afternoon delight

This afternoon Vida Blue and I took Row out for a walk. It was probably one of our longer walks sans stroller. My girl did so well. Didn't utter a complaint once.

The highlight was definitely the
"horseys!" we passed...

although I must say, Miss Blue was a little disappointed when they didn't acknowledge her singing. I told her some horseys are like that. (Yes Oliver Jeffers, I did steal your line.)

On the way home I let the driveway get the best of me. I promised Freezies if we ever reached the top. We somehow managed to... and celebrated with a Cream Soda Crush for her & a Lime Crush (as always) for moi. I've since decided those things should be illegal they're so darn addicting divine.

The end.

6.04.2011

dear border patrol officer,

When you demand for me to "unroll that window" and I ever so gently offer up a "please" and you give me a look like I just undermined your authority and shook up your world, guess what... I just may have. And when you proceed to stumble over the next three questions you ask me, let that be a reminder to you that karma can be witchy.

...

The best part of this story is when Vida Blue clearly visible now from '
that unrolled window' proceeds to chant "please, please, please" in her little sing-song way. That kid, I tell you, is all kinds of awesome.

dear police officer of the u.s. of a.

Thank you for issuing me a verbal warning after accepting my bribe of Smarties. I giggled all the way to the airport (whilst driving the speed limit)... and the hubs didn't seem to mind being a few boxes short in his party pack.

Airport reunions... is there anything sweeter?

This is why you shouldn't leave me babe. I start googlin' Dave.

Miss. You.

6.02.2011

yet another reason...

I heart Thursdays.

My girls leave our little preschool group absolutely exhausted...

while I leave feeling like I could take on the world. Yes, this sweet mama, and this one, and this one all seem to have that effect on me.

Love ya ladies.  A heckavalot.

Let the countdown to Tuesday night begin.

6.01.2011

"oooh mom... you're so cute!"

This, from Vida Blue.

Granted, I was layering french fries onto a cookie sheet at the time. But let's not get caught up in silly details.
